Celebrating Heritage Week's Wild Child Day
Nature Network Ireland celebrates Heritage Week's Wild Child Day with a Bug Hunt & Art Workshop in Tramore Valley Park on Saturday 23 August at 12:00 pm.
This event is part of our Tramore Valley Park Insect Project, a six month initiative made possible through a grant from Community Foundation Ireland in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
The project's Community Engagement Officer Robbie Carroll will lead a guided walk into the grassland area of park. He will introduce us to the largely unseen world of insects to be found there. Sweep nets and inspection pots will be provided for everyone to try their hand at catching and identifying insects. We will learn why they are important to the ecology of Tramore Valley Park.
Artist Ashleigh Ellis will then lead an insect-themed creative workshop in the EcoLab. She will lead us through the fascinating process of making a cyanotype print using plants from the grassland. We will also learn about galls and paint using oak gall ink.
